I create kirie (cut paper) illustrations for period pieces and illustrate for historical stories. In order to create each illustration, after studying the manuscript, I buy reference books and then conduct research on the locations concerned. In particular, I am interested in Chinese history and modern Japanese history. I completed a hundred day journey to the ancient battlefields in “Sangokushi” , which are historic battlefields reknown for the
Battles of Guandu, Red Cliff and Xiaoting. I preside over the “Sashia Gaka no kai (Association of Illustrators for books)” which holds an exhibition every two years and helps to help promote other illustrators. I assist in the management of these activities.
